MozyHome Backup offers three primary methods to recover your files: through the desktop client, via the web interface, or directly through the Windows right-click context menu. Whether you are recovering from a hard drive crash or rolling a single file back to a previous version, the process is straightforward.
Below is the step-by-step breakdown for each recovery method. Method 1: Using the MozyHome Desktop Client
This is the standard option when you are working on your own computer and want a visual file-tree structure to select your data.
Open the Configuration Screen: Double-click the orange and gray Mozy icon in your system tray (near the clock).
Access the Restore Tab: Click Configure and navigate to the Restore tab at the top of the interface.
Select Your Files: Browse the explorer-like file tree to check the boxes next to the folders or individual files you want to retrieve.
Choose Version and Destination: Select which historical version of the file you want to download (if multiple exist) and specify whether you want to save them to their original location or a new folder.
Start Recovery: Click the Restore Files button to begin downloading your data. Method 2: Recovering via the Mozy Web Interface
The web method is ideal if your computer completely crashed and you are setting up a new device, or if you need to access your files from a different machine entirely. Review: MozyHome Remote Backup – Bob Pusateri
